Objectives:

• To record and share weather data with students in different parts of the world during the same time period.
• To share drawings and descriptions of outdoor activities during this time of year.
• To share fact and comparison sentences written by hand or typed on the computer.

Activities:

1. Collect the daily high temperature and the type of weather for the five school days during each of the following weeks:

September 18-22, 2006
January 15 – 19, 2007
May 7 – 11, 2007

2. Brainstorm the activities that children can do outside during this time of the year. Have the children computer or hand draw/paint/cut and paste pictures of the activities and write about them.

3. Create fact and comparison sentences with the weather data from the different locations of the participating classes.. This can be done as a whole class activity or as an individual writing activity.
